FREE Resource Packs available

We have a range of online resource packs available to use in your classroom, including Powerpoint presentations, images of objects in our collections, videos, timelines, worksheets and activities. Please see below for details of the packs available.

Packs are now FREE to download, a cost of £20 applies to loan boxes.

We are constantly developing our offer. New resource packs will be made available over the coming months and new content will be added to existing packs.

We love to welcome schools to the Williamson and also to Birkenhead Priory for self-led visits when we are open (Wednesday-Saturday)

Birkenhead Priory Loan Box

Info

Our Birkenhead Priory Loan Box is available to borrow for £20 for a 2 week loan period. We cannot deliver or collect loan boxes, so you would need to be able to collect it and return it to the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum.

Our Birkenhead Priory Loan Box contains the following items:

  • Bishop costume
  • 3 x monk costume
  • Knitted knight’s helmet
  • Monk glove puppet
  • Medieval knight string puppet
  • calligraphy set
  • Set of 3 battery operated church candles
  • Stained glass window hanging
  • Wooden crucifix
  • CD of Gregorian chants
  • Toy boat
  • Laminated copy of Victorian masons’ marks
  • DK Eyewitness Medieval Life book

These items can be handled in the classroom, although some are fragile, so care should be taken.

This loan box is still under development and new items will be added.

Colour and Pattern

Info

Colour and pattern are important in art and are also important in the world around us. These resources look at how colour and pattern are used in some of the artworks in the Williamson collection and also how we find different colours and patterns all around us every day.

This resource pack contains:

  • A Powerpoint presentation about colour in the world around us and how it is used in some artworks in the Williamson collection.
  • A video about how colour is used in some artworks in the Williamson collection.
  • A PDF worksheet looking at colour mixing, the use of colour in some of the artworks in the Williamson collection, and colours around us.
  • A Powerpoint presentation about different patterns in the world around us and at the use of pattern in some of the artworks in the Williamson collection.
  • A video exploring the use of pattern in some of the artworks in the Williamson collection.
  • A PDF worksheet looking at different patterns and at the use of pattern in some of the artworks in the Williamson collection.

Ancient Egypt

Info

We have over 100 Ancient Egyptian artefacts in the collection at the Williamson. Although we don’t currently have them on display, schools can access them in the classroom, through this resource pack.

This resource pack contains:

  • A Powerpoint presentation exploring some of the artefacts in the Ancient Egyptian collection at the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum.
  • A PDF timeline of Ancient Egypt, formatted to be printed across 6 A3 sheets, which can them be trimmed and joined to create a timeline approx. 220cm in length. There are 2 versions of the timeline, one with important events in Ancient Egyptian history marked onto it, and one with the events provided separately to be cut out and added to the timeline.
  • A PDF timeline of Ancient Egypt, suitable for use on smartboards, computers and tablets.
  • A PDF worksheet looking at hieroglyphs, gods and goddesses and shabtis.
  • 3D digital images of 6 artefacts from our collection: a wooden hawk, a shabti, a scarab, a statuette of Bes, a clay pot and an oil lamp.

Ancient Egypt Loan Box

Our Ancient Egyptian Loan Box is available to borrow for £20 for a 2 week loan period. We cannot deliver or collect loan boxes, so you would need to be able to collect it and return it to the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum.

The Ancient Egyptian Loan Box contains the following items:

  • Pharaoh costume
  • Cat statuette with hieroglyphs
  • Scarab amulet
  • Set of 4 miniature metal god statuettes; Anubis, Horus, Bast, Osiris.
  • Set of 4 canopic jars
  • Hieroglyphs poster
  • Set of 12 god statuettes; Nefertoum, Anat, Tatenen, Gueb, Monthou, Khnoum, Apademak, Isis, Heh, Anouket, Sokaris, Oupouaout.
  • Tutankhamun statuette

None of these items are genuine Ancient Egyptian artefacts and can be handled in the classroom, although some are fragile, so care should be taken.

Animal Encounters Loan Box

Our Animal Encounters Loan Box is available to borrow for £20 for a 2 week loan period. We cannot deliver or collect loan boxes, so you would need to be able to collect it and return it to the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum.

Our Animal Encounters Loan Box contains the following items:

  • Printed reproductions of the artworks in the Animal Encounters virtual exhibition.
  • Plushie rhino
  • Set of plastic animals; giraffe with calf, elephant with calf, tiger with cub, zebra with foal, lion and lioness, cheetah, rhino, bear, gorilla.
  • Animal sound maker
  • 2 copies of ‘Mixed up Animals’, created for the Williamson by Holly Tyson.
  • Wooden pull along elephant
  • ‘Alfie – Happy to be Himself’ by Lillian Webb
  • Set of 15 dry wipe animal notecards

All these items can be handled in the classroom, although some are fragile, so care should be taken.
