ENDED: Liver Sketching Club 150th Anniversary

2022 is the Liver Sketching Club’s 150th anniversary, a significant milestone which has been marked by many events throughout the year. The anniversary events culminate with this historical exhibition.
Featuring work by members both past and present, along with archive items documenting the club’s long history, the exhibition is a fitting celebration of a society which has survived through two World Wars, two depressions, two global pandemics, and several skirmishes with insolvency.
The exhibition will run in Galleries 3, 4 and 5 Wednesday 9th November (from 2pm) – Saturday 17th December. Free entry, full details of opening times & how to find us can be found on our Visit Us page.

Saturday 26th November, all day: free, life portrait drawing sessions. Drop in to Gallery 4 to take part.

About the Liver Sketching Club
The club was founded on 11 May 1872 by Samuel Burkinshaw, Art Master at Liverpool Collegiate, and ten of his students. Over the years, the club has moved around the city and it is entirely appropriate that its studio is now in one of the most iconic buildings in Liverpool, Oriel Chambers, built by Peter Ellis in 1864.
The club is more active today than ever with over 100 members attending one or more of the 40 classes each month, a far cry from the early days when meetings were once each month, and the emphasis remains as the founders wished – always working from live models.
